Karo is a completely free task management app. Here is what that means.
Everything in Karo is free for you and for every person you give tasks to: there is no paid plan to upgrade to, no price per person, no ads, no credit card and no trial that runs out. Below: what you get, the few limits that apply to everyone, and what Karo does not do yet.

Everything. There is no paid plan, so there is nothing to upgrade to.

Free plan or free app?
Most task managers that call themselves free are a free plan of a paid app. The free plan works, but it stops somewhere: a few projects, a few people, small files, a short history, or the best features kept for paying users. When your team grows past it, you pay for each person, every month.
Karo has no paid plan. There is nothing to upgrade to, so nothing is held back for one.

The limits, in full
A few limits are the same for everyone. They keep Karo quick, and no payment raises them, because there is nothing to pay for.
- Up to 500 people in an organization, invites included, and up to 50 organizations of your own.
- Files up to 25 MB each.
- Up to 50 sub-tasks on a task.
- Up to 20 saved places for place reminders.
- Up to 5,000 tasks in one Excel export (narrow the filters for the rest).
How Karo stays free
Karo shows no ads and never sells your information, so you do not pay with your data either. Our privacy policy says so plainly.
If paid features ever come, our terms of use say we will tell you clearly first, and that nothing you already use will start costing money without your agreement.
What Karo does not do yet
Better you know before you start:
- Karo is not on the Google Play Store or the App Store. On Android you install it from our Get the app page; on iPhone you add it to your Home Screen from Safari.
- Place reminders ring in the Android app only, for tasks you give yourself.
- The phone app speaks six languages, but the web app, alerts and emails are in English for now.
- The people you give tasks to need a free Karo account to see and update them.
- A WhatsApp nudge is a message you send in one tap. Karo never sends WhatsApp messages by itself.
- Karo is for giving and following up on tasks. It has no boards, timelines or time tracking.

How many people can I add for free?
An organization can have up to 500 people, invites included, all free. Owners and admins see every task filed under it.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. Register with your email or mobile number. There is no card to add and no trial that runs out.
Does Karo have ads?
No, not in the app and not on the website. Our privacy policy says how your information is used.
Can I use Karo as a free to-do list for myself?
Yes. Give tasks to yourself, with dates, reminders, repeating schedules and, on Android, place reminders. Tasks outside every organization show under General.
Is Karo free on Android and iPhone?
